Cozy Home Essentials

For your winter home in Springfield, VT

I rounded up a few of my must-have Cozy Home Essentials and I thought I’d share them with you!

Soft Throw Blankets

First, set out some soft throw blankets that are easy to store. Drape one or two over the couch then put the rest in a basket for easy access after a long day!

Dim lights and/or turn on some lamps. These may not give the same “glow” Christmas trees do, but they definitely cozy up a room!

Speaking of light, light your fireplace or at least light your fav candle for a little ambience! And if you don’t already, grab some scentless candlesticks next time you’re at the store for a little extra glow.

Crockpot Meals

This one is a non negotiable in winter for me: crockpot meals! Not only do they make dinner super easy, but they make your house smell good and warm all day long! In my opinion, nothing is better than cozying up after a long day with a bowl of soup.

Trade your shoes for cozy slippers, it’s a habit at this point. As soon as you get home, kick off your shoes and slide on your fav slippers.

Even if you can’t snuggle up on the couch to watch Vanderpump Rules re runs right away, at least you’ll feel more comfy!

Quick Resets

A couple times a day, spend about 10 minutes “resetting” a room. Straighten out the couch pillows, add a few dishes to the dishwasher, wipe down the counters, collect toys that need to go back to the toy box, etc.

By doing this just a few times a day for a short amount of time, it’s much easier to keep the house in order, which makes it MUCH easier to relax!

Practice Decluttering

This can be hard, especially right after the holidays, but take time to notice things in your home that are in the way or don’t need to be there.

Pans you always skip over because you like your other pans better, blankets that you never reach for, toys your kids have outgrown, all of these little things add up and make your home feel cluttered!

Keep a box or basket nearby where you can toss things in easily and once it’s full, drop it off at your local donation center.
